Sometimes Social Media Sucks

Ahm no a racist….. but!

Ahm no Isalamophobic ….. but!

Ahm no sayn they’re aw the same…..but!!
does it sound familiar?
can you hear that voice?
hearing about people being shot down, eliminated for no reason at all
it’s scary shit… no doubt there!
as i’m sat scrolling through facebook, online news articles, twitter etc!
I’m seeing anger, bitterness, hatred and small mindedness at level’s that frankly scares me.
Why?
What makes young men and women pick up a gun?
Could it be …. Anger, Bitterness, Hatred and Small Mindedness?
There’s a disturbing irony, the very emotions that led to such horrific attacks on humanity, are the very emotion’s that people who are so set against such acts being committed in the first place are freely spouting on every and any article they can find!
Someone told me … we as a nation need to stop being to huggy kissy, we need to toughen up!
I raked my brain for quite some time over this and in the end I couldn’t find a single atrocity that resulted from a hug or a kiss!
so no!
we need to be more loving, more caring and more willing to reach out and lend a hand…because from where I am sitting right now humanity needs less bitterness and hatred and people certainly need to stop being so willing to ostracise entire communities, races and religions.
Attacks on humanity appear in many form’s and it isn’t always a bullet or a bomb!

The Invisible Man

Go into town
what do you see?
shoppers rushing by
thoughts of dinner
and Friday nights wear
no time to stop
no change to spare
must hurry you see
there’s a sale down there

Mother’s rushing children
don’t stare they say
for fear he will speak
and they might have to see
Office workers lunching
groups of girls
brunching
no time to stop
no change to spare

Stallholders holler
and the police come running
move along mister
your in the way
these good people here
don’t need to see you
cup in hand,
begging all day

The invisible man
he smells you see
he has no where to bathe
his clothes are dirty
they don’t fit his shape
he found them you see
in a bin, in a lane
where was it again

curled up in a doorway
silently the man cries
he cries for himself
he cries for you
Cup in hand
begging all day
how cruel life can be
when people don’t see.

It’s raining hard now
and folk scurry for shelter
Umbrellas shoot up
he would head to the shopping centre
where it’s warm and dry,
but he’s not welcome there
he’s not the right kinda guy
he would head for one of the many cafe’s
but they don’t want him there
he has no change to spare
so he curls up tighter in his open doorway
and wonders about life
and how a man should live
should it be like this
to the end
a man alone
without a friend

(inspired by a man in a doorway in Glasgow City Centre on a right shitty day, George is his name, he is smart and he is funny, he deserves more, if you see a guy in a doorway it won’t kill you to say hello)

Time (this is another oldie of mine) seems appropriate for a reflective Sunday.

Dear old Cuthbert Simpson frozen in time .WP_20130720_031

It’s precious
and fleeting
far too often
self defeating
patience is wasted
impulse regretted
and far too often
nothing netted
grief and desire
both thoughtless
yet painfully
necessary
hopes and dreams
neither shattered
nor achieved
existing not living
or is existing really
living after all….
breathing, feeling
yet somehow never
seeing nor tasting
nor relishing
just some
shameful embellishing
time…..
what’s it really for?
a tool to torture souls
a toy
for twisted spirits
time….

what does it really mean
or does it matter in the
end.

Not too long ago I decided to take part in the Race For Life Pretty Muddy 5K in Glasgow, considering how out of shape I have become due to my love of all things food it really was quite the challenge, in fact I was shattered doing the warm up but all in all it was great fun, an amazing bunch of ladies and my girls there to cheer me on it was over in no time – can’t wait for next year (I plan to be better prepared) … also raised a grand total of £240 for Cancer Research

We managed to bag some really nice weather earlier in the month which is always a blessing during the summer holidays, so we have had plenty of fun exploring Glasgow’s parks

Last week has to top it all off though, did I mention I am a huge music fan?  well we managed to see both Neil Diamond and Fleetwood Mac in the one week and despite the fact that Stevie Nicks is a grade A crackpot!! it was more than I could have imagined it could be the only one to give them a run for their money would be Prince!!!

It’s been an amazing month and I doubt there are many more that could top it in the entertainment category but I very much look forward to trying.

The Cloak Of Death

WP_20130720_009
Cloak Of Death

Hub of activity
once it was
now silent and still
just because

The river still flows
and day turns to night
everything’s well
nothing is right

People still talk
nothing is said
making that walk
filled with dread

Look the other way
yet somehow we see
the cloak of death
draped over thee

bird of the sky
you came so quick
no warning cry
silent and slick

pretend if you like
it’ll always be there
the cloak of death
it’s silent sneer
